2001 Jeep Cherokee - Kokomo, INTonys Pre Owned Auto SalesKokomo, IN 46902Ph: 7654561788Web: www. This is a really nice and clean 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 with 83,950 miles. 2001 was the last year for the Cherokee's but they still have a huge following. The Jeep has averaged right around 9300 miles per year. That's pretty low considering most average drivers put 15,000 miles per year on a vehicle. And most of these Cherokees for sale usually have well over 120K miles. Within the last couple miles I had the Jeep inspected by a ASE certified repair facility. The mechanic I take my vehicles to has been working on cars for 15 years working for a big new car dealership here in town, he is very good and all my vehicles go to him for the inspection and reconditioning. He has his own ASE certified repair facility and does anything from oil changes to rebuilding engines. He inspected it and told me its a very solid Cherokee. He looked it over and took it for a test drive, it did not need brakes and the engine and transmission did not have any issues. He checked the oil level and condition of the transfer case & transmission and they were all full and clean. He replaced the engine oil & filter and also replaced the front pinon seal. Mechanically I personally drive all the vehicles I sell for a few days, this gives me a good idea on how they run and drive. I put about 60 miles on this Jeep and it drives great. The engine does not make any abnormal noises, it idles very smooth when in park and accelerates without any issues. At highway speeds (65-70 mph) it feels solid on the road and the transmission shifts through all gears very smooth. The steering feels very good when making sharp turns in the parking lot and there are no unusual suspension noises when going over bumps on the road. I have seen a lot of these with over 200.000 miles still in excellent mechanical condition, this one has right around 84,000 so it still have a lot of life left. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this Jeep to Florida and back. Jeep has had the 4.0L inline 6 engine around for nearly 20 years. They put them in all the Jeep Wranglers with the 6 cylinder option as well as the Grand Cherokee up to 2004. Its a proven drive train system and will last a very long time with regular oil changes. Electrical The AC and heat works great, power windows work, power door locks work, power mirrors work and so does the radio. Exterior The Jeep was very well cared for by the previous owner and it definitely shows. The over all paint condition is in great shape with no clear coat issues, the paint is very glossy. This is a nice, 1-owner Jeep with no prior accidents (i have the history report) Within the last couple miles I had the Jeep inspected by a ASE certified repair facility. The fluids all looked good but I had him replace the engine oil and filter just to be safe, one of the power windows was not working so he replaced the power window motor, the muffler had a tiny hole in it so he replaced the muffler with a new one and he also replaced the front U-joins. There are no mechanical issues with the Jeep so I am including a nation wide warranty at no additional cost. ( $ 0 Deductible ) Mechanically I personally drive all the vehicles I sell for a few days, this gives me a good idea on how they run and drive. I put about 100 miles on this Jeep and it drives great. I am currently driving it back and forward to work, so there might be 100 aditional miles on it by the time this auction is over. The engine does not make any abnormal noises, it idles very smooth when in park and accelerates without any issues. At highway speeds (65-70 mph) it feels solid on the road. The transmission shifts through all 4 gears very smooth, highway passing gear is also smooth with no abnormal hard shifting. There is no abnormal drive train noise at 65-70 mph either. The steering feels very tight when making sharp turns in the parking lot and there are no unusual noises when going over bumps on the road. There is a small steering wheel vibration at 50 mph, but it is not there before or after 50mph. I had all the suspension parts and alignment checked and its all within specs, they tested the tires on a road force machine and told me 2 tires have a flat spot in them. The alignment shop told me the flat spot will go away after about 1000 miles of wear on the tires, there is plenty of thread left so I did not see the need to replace the tires. The vibration is only there at 50 mph, its gone at 55 mph and up. I have seen alot of these with over 200.000 miles still in excellent mechanical condition, this one has right around 76,000 so it still have a lot of life left. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this Jeep to Florida and back. Jeep has had the 4.0L inline 6 engine around for nearly 20 years.
